March 1st, never has a date been so anticipated, Spring please don’t let us down. We really need for it to warm up a bit now, as when the ground temperature reaches five degrees the grass will start growing.

The bank holiday weekend has arrived which means Neil is home on the farm for an extra day. Friday evening ended with him asking for his weekend itinerary, he’s so well trained 🙂 Top of the Alpaca to do list is worming, which is much easier when there’s two of you as it is administered via injection. Neil gets the job of holding the alpacas steady while I get left in charge of the needles.

I’m at a bit of a loss, sitting here with my asus pad in front of me wondering just what to write the blog about today.

The girls have kindly been delivering their cria one at a time, perfectly spread out, giving me lots to write about.

But we’ve had no alpaca births for two days now, what’s going on?

I think I must have been taking them for granted and now it’s pay back time, they are going to make me wait ...

Friday is the 1st of March as I’m sure you are all aware and one can not help but remember last March and all the glorious weather it brought. In fact for the last few years March has been a good month for sunshine.

Well as you have already probably guessed by now the computer was wrong and we have had no alpaca births here as of yet. Blue has also come into her dates and so I am closely watching three females who are getting decidedly rounder but are showing no signs of delivering 🙁

The weather has been stunning here for the last few days and looks set to continue, the alpacas can all be found sprawled out playing dead (alpaca sun bathing) ...

Having had no rain for a few weeks and the ground being frozen solid I decided today would be a crocs with socks day as I am fed up to the back teeth of constantly wearing wellies.

I guessed that as long as the socks were thick enough my feet wouldn’t come to much harm in my crocs. I’ve had Neil telling me I’m mad and to put my wellies back on before I got frostbite in my toes. But I ...

Well it’s the 30th today and are we going to have an alpaca birth? Will the computer be right? So far Dora shows no signs of obliging, but the day is not done yet. Watch this space!

Neil is in the good books, and has earn’t him self lots of brownie points as he’s finally started the fronts of my stud pens.
