The Vet is Booked

Posted By On Jan 2013 | 0 Comments

The day draws ever nearer for Taffy,Woody and Hamilton, they are due to be castrated in a couple of weeks, It’s all booked, poor boys. It is all done very quickly and with a shot of local anaesthetic in their nether regions, they don’t feel a thing. These boys then will have a good life without ever having to worry about the females of their species.

This trio are smashing boys, lovely fleeces and great temperaments, the only reason they aren’t ...

It’s Such A Shame

Posted By On Jan 2013 | 0 Comments

The snow goes and the sun comes out, but the alpacas are still in the barn, it’s such a shame, Why?

The answers is because of the horrendous rain storms we’ve been having for the last few nights. The paddocks are so water logged that I’ve made the decision only to let the Alpacas out for an hour or so just while I muck out the barn.

The next few weeks with the rain that the weather men have forecast I think my best ...

And Just Like Magic it’s All Gone

Posted By On Jan 2013 | 0 Comments

I woke up this morning to brilliant sunshine and green fields, the snow had all been washed away by the rain through the night. Hooray!!! not for the rain but for the disappearing snow.

The alpacas couldn’t believe their eyes when I opened the barn door and they looked out at green fields, they were so shocked, they were reluctant to leave the barn at first, the big babies.

It wasn’t long though before they were chasing me up the race, to ...

Scarlette

Posted By On Jan 2013 | 0 Comments

I apologise in advance as today maybe a short blog on the other hand it might not be as when I start talking about my gorgeous niece I probably won’t be able to stop.

Scarlette is seven years old and has Global Development Delay, she also has Severe Epilepsy and these issues combined  have meant that she has not learnt to speak yet.

All that aside Scarlette is the happiest little girl I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and I ...

Three Wheels on our Wagon

Posted By On Jan 2013 | 0 Comments

We are very lucky in our area to have one of the best haylage producers around and yesterday afternoon we paid them a visit.

Its been a while since we’ve seen Oliver and so we had a good catch up on all his news and then got down to the serious business of discussing haylage and what would be the best to feed to our alpacas.

You would think haylage was haylage but we found out yesterday that was not so and ...

Animal Farm

Posted By On Jan 2013 | 0 Comments

Yesterday the snow had stopped falling and with the hayracks loaded up in the field shelters it was time to let the alpacas out to stretch their legs.

I’d remembered my camera for a change and was stood waiting as the weanling boys emerged from the barn.

Alpaca’s in the Snow

Posted By On Jan 2013 | 0 Comments

Snow Scene

This is a game just like Where’s Wally, only this is titled Where’s The Alpaca.  This could be a bit hard as except for a couple, all my alpaca’s are white.

Any luck yet?

Have you tried squinting sometimes I find that helps?

No, not helpful, I’ll shut up.

Perhaps my blog title should have been the Amazing Camouflage Potential of White Alpaca’s in the Snow?

I will have to be ...

Pick & Mix

Posted By On Jan 2013 | 0 Comments

Today for a change, I had to many titles to choose from for my blog and so I will share a few with you and you can decide for your self what the title should have been.

Dinner Date, Young Love, Love is in the Air, Manipulative Females or maybe just How Sweet? The list could go on and I’m sure you could think of much better.

To make an informed decision I will have to describe what I witness today in ...

Work First, Play Later

Posted By On Jan 2013 | 0 Comments

I thought today that I ought to have a rummage, not through fleeces one of my favourite jobs, but through my previous blogs.  Why you ask?  Well there is a reason, being dyslexic has its advantages although having a poor short term memory I’ve forgotten what those advantages are :0))

It also has lots of disadvantages i.e. short term memory issues.  I have to say though that by the time you get to my age coping strategies are second nature and ...

Reunion

Posted By On Jan 2013 | 0 Comments

I’m pleased to announce the happy, or maybe not so happy:0)) reunion between Neil and the poo-hoover. It’s been a week since he’s been back to work, but today saw the start of the weekend and me stood ready to hand the hoover over. I knew I looked forward to the weekend for a reason :0))

Before he trundled of up the paddocks, poo-hoover in hand, we had a Lambivac session. Half the herd were due today and the other half ...
