How hot is this weather? I’m cooking but the alpacas are loving it, everywhere I look is an alpaca stretch out soaking in the sunshine. How they do it I don’t know, I’m hiding under the biggest umbrella and I’m still smoldering ๐Ÿ™‚

This morning early to beat the heat, Angelo had a second date with Truly. I’m glad we started early as forty minutes later he was still at it.

I was hoping the novelty had worn off and he was ...

Two First Timers

Posted By On Jul 2013 | 3 Comments

Yesterday at 10.55 am the latest addition to our alpaca herd arrived.

It came as a little bit of a shock as my girls never ever deliver early, even my experienced mothers tend to make me wait right to the end of their dates and so to have a first time mother deliver just five days into her dates was a surprise.

A very nice surprise, in fact it was a double surprise as not only was Sassy Surprise, that’s her name ...

Alpaca Mayhem

Posted By On Jul 2013 | 2 Comments

Another beautiful sunny day here in Wiltshire and according to the forecast it’s set to get even hotter over the weekend. Temperatures are estimated to reach 27 degree’s on Sunday and Monday.

Wow! that is hot, for the UK anyway. Don’t worry I’m not complaining, I wouldn’t dare after last summer ๐Ÿ™‚

I am just so grateful that all my alpacas are all shorn, with that kind of heat expectedย  they would have been really struggling if still carrying their heavy fleeces.

As ...

Imp your the Daddy!

Posted By On Jul 2013 | 2 Comments

Oh I’m so sorry but I just can’t help it, I’ve just got to share.

My skirting fairy came to call again yesterday and together we worked through some more of my fleeces ๐Ÿ™‚

I say together but that’s not quite true, I flapped about a bit oohing and ahing at all the shinny bits and she knuckled down and did all the work.

What am I like, bloody usless I know ๐Ÿ™‚ but I just couldn’t help it.

I haven’t really paid much ...

How to Exercise the Elderly

Posted By On Jul 2013 | 6 Comments

Here on our alpaca farm we take the welfare of all our helpers very seriously and so when It was brought to my attention late last week that our chief happy little helper aka my mother was a subjectย of elder abuse a full investigation was set in motion.

First off, whose the culprit? who on the farm would terrorize my poor mother, one of the alpacas?

No way! The alpacas are all far too placid and sweet natured, even Dora is really ...

Hive of Activity

Posted By On Jun 2013 | 1 Comments

Today the weather has been absolutely amazing and on our little alpaca farm here in Wiltshire, we have been making the most of every last minute of it.

I took a few minutes this afternoon to wander round with my camera taking snaps of all the activity happening around the place.

Before any of you comment, yes it was a good excuse for a skive, I was hot, but I’m not complaining sunshine honest! ๐Ÿ™‚

What is it they say “a picture is ...

The Alpaca Skirting Fairy

Posted By On Jun 2013 | 6 Comments

Wow! I know elite alpaca fleeces look good, but they look even better when the skirting fairy has been through them.

After reading about the skirting fairy on a fellow blogger’s, blog, I was so jealous as my own skirting technique is absolutely horrendous.

It’s quite sole destroying having a beautiful fleece in front of you only to find after hours of hard work, your left with a pile of bits.

So I knew I’d have to find her and somehow entice her ...

Happy Lazy Alpacas

Posted By On Jun 2013 | 0 Comments

The alpacas, dare I say it? are enjoying the summer now it has finally arrived, I’m certainly keeping my fingers and toes crossed that it stays that way for a while ๐Ÿ™‚

The forecast say’s it going to be good here for at least the next two weeks, but I’m not holding my breath, every time I check it’s changed and normally for the worsts, so I’m not looking any more.

The alpacas now their shorn spend most of the afternoon sprawled ...

Alpaca Trenches Revisited

Posted By On Jun 2013 | 1 Comments

The trenching for the new alpaca enclosures are coming along nicely and will hopefully be finished later today.

Well it had better be finished because the fencer is coming tomorrow morning at 8am sharp to start ramming in all the post.

Do you detect the note of doubt creeping in? There is, probably because I have bodge it and scarper, aka Neil and Charlie, out there now playing with the JCB.

The trench due to my superb organisation skills ๐Ÿ™‚ was started on ...

Alpaca’s Singing?

Posted By On Jun 2013 | 1 Comments

Early this morning I took a leisurely stroll around the farm, in order to check that everything was tickety boo. Alpacas and horses were all fine and busy stuffing their faces as per usual.

It’s got to be the best part of the day, with the sun rising, the birds beginning their morning chorus, beautiful, so peaceful and then Ronnie my cockerel has to go and shriek let me out. That bird definitely needs some singing lessons:)

My morning walk sets me ...
