Alpaca Retirement?

Posted By On May 2013 | 0 Comments

Our latest arrival to our alpaca herd Wilson, is a lively little lad and is very happily running Dora ragged. Poetic justice I call that as she runs me ragged at every opportunity, I think I’m going to especially love this little boy, keep up the good work Wilson πŸ™‚

Joking aside, I really am pleased as her last cria Benson had a bit of a rough start. For some unknown reason Dora’s milk diminished considerably after a day, following his ...

Flashdance

My apologies for not publishing my alpaca blog yesterday but I’m afraid I was absolutely shattered, it had nothing to do with our super duper new internet connection honest!

Charlie made me put that bit in as I mentioned about him messing with it the other day and according to him, he wasn’t messing he was fixing it so that it worked properly and so it does, thank you Charlie πŸ™‚

I knew I was shattered when I woke up at four ...

Mice & Men

Posted By On May 2013 | 2 Comments

Yesterday I had lots planned, first on the list was trying to improve on the alpaca fleece shots. Some of the boys this time I thought, hoping they wouldn’t be quite so wiggly as the girls.

That job could take a while, dependent on how tolerant the boys were feeling and so for afterwards I thought mowing the doc leaves in the horses paddocks would be a great way to relieve my inevitable frustration.

To finish, a spot of painting I thought, ...

Alpaca Fleece Shots

Posted By On May 2013 | 1 Comments

Well today as the weather was fine, I thought I better make a start on the challenge I set myself, alpaca fleece shots.Β  Armed with my camera I herded a few of the girls down the race to the catch pens ready to begin my photo session. The poor girls I bet they were wishing I could have started with the boys πŸ™‚

Thank god we now have digital cameras and can take numerous pictures, delete them and start again.

Deleting them ...

Alpaca Additions

Posted By On Jul 2013 | 5 Comments

Well can you guess what I have to tell you today? Yep another addition to my rapidly expanding alpaca herd πŸ™‚

Today it was the turn of Perfect Harmony, aka PH, to deliver.

PH another maiden who also didn’t have a clue what was happening to her.

PH has joined the elite run round and round in circles cause there’s a head poking out of my rear end and I don’t know who or what the hell it is club.

Don’t you just love ...

Alpacas & Weeds

Posted By On May 2013 | 0 Comments

I just about managed to beat the rain, all the alpaca latrines are now nice and short making it so much easier to poo-hoover. I also cut the creeping buttercup that had started to appear in some of the alpaca paddocks.

I hate weeds how come they grow so much faster than grass? The weather being windy and wet is no good for spraying the fields with weed killer and so I’m left with either looking at them growing taller and ...

Perfect!

Posted By On Jul 2013 | 7 Comments

What did I tell you? as soon as I show a complete lack of interest a female alpaca goes into labour.

Ha Ha alpaca’s you may think your smart but you’ve got to be a bit quicker of the ball to catch me out. I was still watching, my trusted binoculars just allowed me to do it from a bit further away πŸ™‚

Yesterday’s new arrival was courtesy of First Edition, a medium fawn maiden, the sire High Commissioner.

I have been a ...

100 th Alpaca Blog

Posted By On May 2013 | 1 Comments

After just logging in to my web site account I find that this will be my 100th alpaca blog post. I can’t believe I’ve written that many already, how time flies when your having fun πŸ™‚

It would be really nice to celebrate this auspicious occasion with a blog full of my latest cria pictures, but unfortunately the pregnant girls haven’t obliged.

So instead I could post pictures of my gorgeous herd enjoying the lush grass and sunshine. Only there’s no sunshine ...
