Hello Honey I’m Home!

Posted By On Dec 2012 | 2 Comments

On Friday I mentioned that at the weekend there was going to be a surprise for someone special.  Well now that surprise has happened I can tell you all about it.

The surprise was for my sister who celebrated her 40th birthday on Wednesday.  Her husband Bill & best friend Heidi organized a surprise spa weekend away in Bath.  Eight of Joanna’s girl friends and me were waiting at the train station, suitcases in hand, much to the surprise of my ...

Surprises

Posted By On Dec 2012 | 1 Comments

This week has been full of surprises, earlier this week I received a lovely basket of flowers from Rob & Les at Wellground.  They are really lovely, thank you.  I’m going to try my hardest not to kill them, that’s the flowers not Rob & Les :O))  I either over water or don’t water them enough, but so far so good they are still alive.  I think I will take Les’s hot tip and plant the tree out on the ...

The Internet

Posted By On Dec 2012 | 2 Comments

What would we do without the internet; I have spent an afternoon in my comfy armchair Christmas shopping.  No searching for a parking space, no crowds of people, no heavy shopping bags, just a hot log burner, a nice cup of tea and my lap top.  Two hours and I’m almost finished, I still can’t quite believe it was that easy, google your a star, my feet thank you, but my debit card might not :0))

Now all I have to ...

More chickens flying the coop

Posted By On Dec 2012 | 2 Comments

Busy busy busy, as I’m sure you are too, why is it always so manic before Christmas?  It seems really crazy when Christmas is only one day, am I sounding like the Grinch again :0))

This weekend we raced around the farm and finished the chores super quick this gave us a little free time and as I’ve previously mentioned, Saturday we visited the folks at Willowbank Alpacas and delivered some young chickens to Lilly.

Sunday we delivered another couple of chickens ...

A Great Day Out

Posted By On Dec 2012 | 1 Comments

Sorry the blog is late today, but I’ve only been back a short while.   I have had a lovely day out visiting Carl, Lisa & Lilly up at Willowbank Alpacas.  We took three little pekin chickens up for Lilly as her pet bantam hen was getting lonely on her own.  Now she has two girl friends and a rather sexy little frizzle male called Ferby Frazzel to keep her company.  Hopefully Furby Frazzel will prove acceptable to the girls and ...

David Bailey I’m Not

Posted By On Nov 2012 | 0 Comments

The sun has got his hat on and what a wonderful winter’s day it is.  The girls all rushed out to their paddocks kicking their legs in the air with joy anybody would think spring was here the way they were acting.

Girls in their paddock

It is really great to watch them gambolling around, it’s really hard to explain what they actually look like unless you’ve seen them do it.  I’ll ...

Hooray Day

Posted By On Nov 2012 | 1 Comments

Hooray the rain has stopped, the wind has dropped and the forecast is the same for at least a week.  My fingers and toes are all crossed that this is true, hopefully this will give the paddocks time to drain and all the lakes that have formed on the low spots will disappear.

Thank god for the barn, the alpacas have been dry, well fed and comfortable through this stormy weather, but they are dying to get back out onto their ...

Truly Grateful

Posted By On Nov 2012 | 1 Comments

Who needs a zoomba work out when they have a barn to muck out and a radio tuned to classic gold, what a combination! Why I never thought of it before beats me.

I have just had a fantastic morning and I can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow.  I know I’m mad but it’s such fun being able to dance around singing at the top of your voice in a barn where no one can see or hear the ...

Remind Me To Shut My Big Mouth

Posted By On Nov 2012 | 0 Comments

The rain did lay off yesterday for awhile instead we had wind and boy did we get some wind.  By late afternoon we were still intact, thinking we had wind proofed the farm adequately i.e. field shelters firmly fixed down etc… I opened my big mouth to congratulate ourselves on another job well done and the roof of a chicken coop went sailing by.

Poor chickens they didn’t look impressed especially as at precisely that moment the torrential rain decided to ...

The Score, Herd 1 Donna 0

Posted By On Nov 2012 | 0 Comments

The rain is it ever going to stop; I really think we’ve had enough now.  This morning it had settled into a steady rhythm of drizzle and so I thought I’d get the girls out quick for a bit of an airing.  They could have a quick munch on the grass and I could have a blitz in the barn and get it all fresh and tidy for the inevitable downpour later.

The girls and I wandered down the race and ...
