Amazing Grace

Posted By On Jun 2014 | 1 Comments

Wow! what gorgeous weather we’ve been having. The alpacas are loving it, especially as they were shorn a few weeks ago, just as the hot weather appeared. How was that for timing, happy days, I love it when a plan works out 🙂

Shearing all done and a very welcome visit from the skirting fairy the following day to help me, skirt and prepare some show fleeces, all made for a very enjoyable few days. Everything is so much more fun ...

100% Alpaca Yarn

Posted By On May 2014 | 5 Comments

My apologies once again for my lack of blogs but I’ve had my hands rather full of late. With our shearing day fast approaching I thought it was time I sorted through the alpaca fleeces I had stored in my barn from the previous two years, before we had another pile to add to the collection. Shame on me for having that much fibre stored, but it was packed away saftely for a reason. Three years ago I had a ...

On an Alpaca Farm in Wiltshire

Posted By On Apr 2014 | 0 Comments

Has spring finally arrived?, I think so! The signs are looking good, the first of the swallows arrived back in the stables at the beginning of the week.

The 1st of the swallows

Plus wall to wall sunshine and the fields are full of lush green grass.  All of the alpacas, after stuffing themselves on said lush green grass are spending the afternoons fast asleep in the sun. Spring is here, Happy Days!!!!

Been Busy

Posted By On Mar 2014 | 0 Comments

It’s been awhile since I last blogged, OMG that sounds like the start of a confession. Sorry nothing juicy to tell, I’ve just been otherwise distracted and before you all start wondering, with my alpacas of course.

The other week was the National in Telford, which I attended, as we’d had entered a few fleeces into the fleece show. The fleeces were a bit tired as they’d already been shown at a couple of shows last year and were almost a ...

Alpaca Ancestry

Posted By On Mar 2014 | 2 Comments

With spring being just round the corner and all thoughts returning to the approaching birthing season, I suddenly remembered that I hadn’t yet registered last years offspring, how bad is that? Luckily it only takes a few minutes to rectify and all the cria are now officially recorded with the BAS.

One little lad has already been earmarked by a breeder who wants him for a future herd sire. He will have to wait a few months yet as The Vigilant, ...

A very special birthday!

Posted By On Feb 2014 | 2 Comments

Today is a very special day, it’s my dad’s 70th birthday.

The last few years have been very tough for us as a family, my father was diagnosed with a massive aneurism and had to undergo a triple A operation to save his life. The out come was good but in the process his kidneys stop functioning. After two years on dialysis he was deemed fit enough to have more surgery and a replacement kidney meant he was free at last ...

Any excuse for an alpaca photo shoot

Posted By On Feb 2014 | 0 Comments

It’s the beginning of a new month, time to AD & E all the cria, to give them that injectable sunshine boost that they so need at this time of year.

Whilst I had them in hold it was a chance to take my first photos of their growing fleeces.

The pictures are not particularly good as they were taken in the barn, very quickly so as not to upset the youngsters.  At their age standing still is not much fun especially ...

Alpaca Planter

Posted By On Jan 2014 | 0 Comments

Wow! in the blink of an eye Christmas has come and gone. Where does the time go?

It seems like it was only five minutes ago that all the alpacas had to be tucked up in the barn by 4pm as that’s when it got dark. Now it’s 4.45pm before darkness comes and it’s gradually getting later each day.

Yippee!!! Spring is on it’s way!  I know, I’m suffering from a bad case of wishful thinking 😉

Looks like I have some planting ...
