Did the Alpacas eat all the pies?

Posted By On Jun 2013 | 0 Comments

That’s alpaca shearing completed for another year Yippee! Yesterday was positively perfect, weather wise, in fact the whole day was perfect and totally stress free from start to finish. Thank you Ian you did a brilliant job it was a real pleasure working with you and all the alpacas look great even Dora, I’m just totally shattered πŸ™‚

I must add it’s a very happy shattered, the fleeces just rolled off and each and everyone one of them, with the exception ...

Alpaca Planter

Posted By On Jan 2014 | 0 Comments

Wow! in the blink of an eye Christmas has come and gone. Where does the time go?

It seems like it was only five minutes ago that all the alpacas had to be tucked up in the barn by 4pm as that’s when it got dark. Now it’s 4.45pm before darkness comes and it’s gradually getting later each day.

Yippee!!! Spring is on it’s way!Β  I know, I’m suffering from a bad case of wishful thinking πŸ˜‰

Looks like I have some planting ...

Persuasive Little Alpaca

Posted By On Jun 2013 | 3 Comments

I must say I’m feeling like a very lucky alpaca breeder, although it’s pretty scary saying it out loud, please weather forecast don’t change. I don’t think I could I have picked a better week for shearing? Wall to wall sunshine yippee!

Tomorrow is D-day and for my pregnant girls it will be a huge relief, the last few days they have been really struggling with the heat.

Even Dora and Blue who have given birth are struggling, mind they have cria ...

Alpaca Curcuit Training

Posted By On Jun 2013 | 3 Comments

What a beautiful weekend, the weather has been absolutely glorious so much so that even though we had a huge list of jobs that needed doing, we found ourselves spending more and more time just sitting watching our latest alpaca arrivals Wilson and Teddy.

Those boys would keep any one mesmorised for hours they are just so cute and funny.

Wilson has spent most of the weekend trying to get Teddy to wake up and come play with him. Wilson didn’t quite ...

Our Alpaca Blog – Is It really December?

Posted By On Dec 2013 | 0 Comments

I really can’t believe it’s December all ready, where has the year gone? With the weather being so sunny and mild I’m finding it hard to get my head around Christmas being only a few weeks away.

In fact it’s so mild that if it wasn’t a priority to conserve the grass, the alpacas would still be out full time rather than spending the nights in the barn.

Ha! Ha! who am I trying to kid, watching all the alpacas queuing up ...

An Alpaca Surprise

Posted By On Jun 2013 | 1 Comments

Those alpacas sure like giving you a surprise and very surprised I was early on Thursday morning.

The day began as usual, wet πŸ™ and so the evening before I’d popped my very heavily pregnant females along with Dora and little Wilson in the barn for the night.

Actually truth be known Dora insisted on being in the barn, definitely no surprises there πŸ™‚

As it happened I’d made the right choice as through the night we’d had some heavy showers. On waking ...

Alpaca Plan B

Posted By On May 2013 | 2 Comments

All’s quite on the alpaca front, apart from like most other alpaca breeders we are on a countdown to shearing day.

This is when we especially need the weather to be good, dry alpacas are essential for shearing.

I’m spending so much time checking the forecast on line, it’s beginning to feel like I have an addiction πŸ™‚

This morning at the moment, keeping fingers and toes crossed, looks to be the last of the rain until after our shearing day, which if ...

Feeling Rusty!

Posted By On Nov 2013 | 8 Comments

Well hello again! it’s feels so long since I wrote my last blog that I’m struggling with where to begin. Not to worry I’m sure I’ll settle back into the swing of it again pretty quick, at least I hope I will πŸ™‚

We’ve had a great summer here on our alpaca farm. Lots of sunshine, lots of grass, lots of lovely visitors, lots and lots of beautiful cria and the icing on the cake was to enter two fleece shows ...
